Fedronic Breaks Indoor Record - GoStanford.comPublished by
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Fifth-year senior Justine Fedronic broke the Stanford women’s indoor record for 800 meters on Saturday while also taking down meet and track records at the Penn State National track and field invitational. Also, Steven Solomon and Kristyn Williams ran world-class times in the 500, each in winning efforts. Fedronic ran 2:03.25 to lead a Stanford 1-2-3 sweep, with sophomore Amy Weissenbach (2:05.50) also under Weissenbach’s 2013 school mark of 2:05.56. In third, sophomore Claudia Saunders (2:07.17) ran the No. 5 time in Stanford history. Fedronic’s is the No. 2 collegiate time in the country, trailing only the 2:01.32 by Oregon’s Laura Roesler. The meet and track records were 2:03.51 set by Erica Moore in 2011. The race came about 20 hours after Fedronic anchored Stanford to a school record in the distance medley relay, running a 1,600 split of 4:33. “We were really riding off the high of last night,” Fedronic said.
